Three years later, Jehovah’s Witnesses will get their conference in Medicine Hat

Three years after the pandemic postponed a major religious conference at Co-op Place in Medicine Hat, the theme of the Jehovah’s Witness gathering here this spring will be “Exercise Patience!”

The event will take place over two weekends, from June 16-18 and from June 23-25. It is expected to draw about 4,500 attendees each weekend from Calgary and southern Alberta, Saskatchewan and British Columbia to take part in bible study, lessons and presentations.

A similar event was to be held in June 2020 as the first major convention at the city-owned events centre, which can sit 6,000-plus and more on the floor.

The 2023 event was noted briefly in a recent city committee meeting, with administrators noting that hotel and campground space in the region was already mostly booked up by visitors.

A formal announcement is expected soon.
