For the second time in six months, the same storefront along Dunmore Road has been heavily damaged when a car came over the curb while angle-parking and struck the building.

A white Toyota Camry was removed by tow truck on Thursday afternoon after it accelerated over the curb and into the brick facade with large display windows.

That comes after work was only completed in January following the brickwork and glass being badly damaged in a similar crash on Sept. 16.

Everest Liquor owner Neil Ratol was philosophical about Thursday’s events.

“These things happen,” he told the News, adding he will now consider looking into placing steel posts near the building and sidewalk. “We’ll have to consider doing something.”

No one was seriously injured and only a small amount of stock at the liquor outlet was damaged, but the building’s exterior is pushed in and will require substantial repair work.

A support post that was directly hit appeared to be in solid shape, however.

The outlet was closed in the afternoon and could remain closed for several days as engineers evaluate the building, but Ratol plans to re-open as soon as possible.
