https://www.medicinehatnews.com@MedicineHatNews Emergency calls to Cypress County fire services were down slightly in 2022, though a reduced number of fires was made up for in calls for motor vehicle collisions. Figures presented to Cypress County council on Feb. 22 show the total number of calls last year numbered 294, down from 307 in 2021. The recent numbers involved nine structure fires and 58 grass fires – each about even with the previous 12 months – but other general fire calls were 18, including 10 vehicle blazes, or about half the number in 2021. Comparing the same two years, car accidents were up by 18 to 71 calls last year, about where they were in 2019 before a two-year dip. County emergency workers also attended 79 medical first response situations. 7
