Canada Infrastructure Program providing $10.8 million for projects in Saskatchewan

Federal and provincial infrastructure funding will provide almost $500,000 to cover half the cost of replacing bridges in the Rural Municipality of Big Stick in Southwest, Sask., it was announced on Wednesday.

The Canada Infrastructure Program will provide $10.8 million for 25 project across Saskatchewan, while the province will contribute $8.9 million, according to a release.

At Big Stick, north of Maple Creek, Ottawa will forward $162,000 and Regina $323,700 to replace a culvert and 40-foot-long wooden bridge in the district.

The largest portions of the total funding will go toward a First Nations learning centre in Regina as well as new recreation facilities and upgrades in Wilkie, Montmartre, and Radville, and Shell Lake.

Kindersley will receive a total of $833,000 to upgrade its arena, and Climax received $678,000 to decommission its landfill.
