Missing woman found dead

A Medicine Hat woman who was the subject of a three-week search has been found dead.

Local police reported Sunday that they had discovered a body after cruisers and officers were seen in an open area near Parkview Drive in northeast Crescent Heights.

The investigation continued on Monday, but police say foul play is not suspected.

Medicine Hat Police had recently they had asked residents of the north-end community to check their properties, sheds and any outdoor security camera footage for signs of the women.

Jennifer Chemelli-Magnus, 53, was last seen on foot near 20th Street and Eighth Ave. in the area on Dec. 30, 2022. Police thanked members of the public and organizations that joined in the search. They stated no further release of information would be made.
