Milk River ER forced to close for Holidays

By Medicine Hat News on December 23, 2022.

A shortage of attending physicians will result in the temporary closure of Milk River Health Centre’s emergency department through the Holidays, Alberta Health Services announced Thursday.

The closure takes effect 5 p.m. this evening and will last until 8 a.m. Jan. 3; during which time, individuals in need of emergency medical care will be re-routed to Lethbridge’s Chinook Regional Hospital.

Nursing staff will remain on site throughout the closure to care for inpatients.

The closure is one of a half dozen the centre’s ED has experienced so far this year – all stemming from a lack of physicians.
