Dog, owner back together after car thief nabbed more than four wheels

A could-have-been tragic tale has ended happily as police reunited a Medicine Hat dog owner with her pup after her vehicle was stolen with the dog inside.

The theft took place on the morning of Dec. 2 in the area of Kingsway Avenue.

Medicine Hat Police Service officers were able to locate the vehicle shortly after the theft and attempted to stop it, but were unsuccessful.

Officers then tracked the vehicle to a rural location in Saskatchewan and found the dog inside the vehicle unharmed.

Two men were taken into custody in connection to the incident and the dog has since been reunited with its owner. No details were released regarding the identities of the men.

MHPS reminds Hatters to always lock their cars and never leave a car running with keys in the ignition. They also encourage Hatters to remove valuable property within the car from sight.
