Suspicious package incident resolved

An incident involving a suspicious device in the area of Terrace Drive and 11th Avenue NE has been resolved, Medicine Hat police reported Thursday.

Medicine Hat Police Service’s explosives disposal unit responded to the area around 2 p.m. Wednesday and remained on scene into Thursday, diverting vehicular and pedestrian traffic in an effort to reduce risk to the public.

By Thursday afternoon, traffic had been restored and few crews remained on scene, with MHPS stating the public’s safety was no longer at risk.

No further details were provided, however a criminal investigation is underway.
