This Saturday will be the Royal Memorial Jam at Whiskey Creek starting at 2 p.m.

The Future Rockers will kick things off, playing from 2-4 p.m. All children of any age who play a musical instrument or sing are invited to come down and experience what it feels like to be on stage. Use the front entrance for groups with underage children, and they will be escorted to the stage area.

Organizers Troy Biccum and Heather McCaig are expecting a large crowd, the Royal Facebook events page already has more than 310 people. Also in attendance will be Lynne Palmer, operator of the Royal Hotel Bar before it was destroyed by a fire in September.

Following the Future Rockers, the open jam for adult musicians will begin with bands going up and musicians switching out throughout the evening.

“Any musician that ever played at the Royal is attempting to get there,” said McCaig. “We’ve had people reach out to us from out of town who are looking at coming back for the event.”

Everybody who enters gets a free door prize ticket and extra tickets can be purchased for $5 each. There is no entry fee and money raised from the door prize tickets will go toward helping Lynne Palmer.

Another part of the fundraising will be a silent auction running from 2-8 p.m.

“We have things for every price range of people. The Royal was a great place because everybody could come down. It was home for lots of people and we are trying to make sure there are things there for everyone if they want to take part,” said McCaig.

The Royal Memorial merchandise sale closed on Oct. 15, however 20 men’s and 20 women’s shirts will be available on Saturday. Requests for another run of merchandise have come in and if McCaig receives enough interest from the public she will see if they can open it up for a second run.

Whiskey Creek will be running a BBQ beef on a bun for $9 and will have a drink special for the event.

Call Heather McCaig at 403-528-0562 if you require further information.
