No advance poll in Hat

Hatters eligible to vote in the Brooks-Medicine Hat byelection can cast advanced ballot starting today, but will have to do so out of town.

The closest station to Medicine Hat is in Redcliff at the Royal Canadian Legion No. 6, 302 Broadway Ave. W.

Officials with Elections Alberta told the News on Monday that due to short time-table they were unable to rent a suitable facility in the city. The four-week byelection was called on Oct. 11.

Voters can cast ballots at any of three locations within the riding, including in Brooks at the Heritage Inn, 1217 Second St. W., and in Bassano, at the Pioneer Damsiters Drop-in Centre, 317 Second Ave.

Voting will take place from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. each day from today through Saturday.

Specific voting locations for general voting on Nov. 8 should be detailed on voter identification slip mailed to residences, or can be found at elections.ab.ca.

One piece of government issued picture identification is required, or two pieces – such as utility bill, bank statement or Alberta Health care care – that has full name one with a current address.
