Med Hat Sport and Event Council hosting leaders meeting

The Medicine Hat Sport and Event Council are hosting their fall sport and event leaders meeting this week.

The MH sport and event council’s annual meeting is set for Thursday night at the Medicine Hat Public Library and will run from 7-8 p.m.

“We have heard from local organizations that enrolment has been down and people are cutting back on clubs and activities,” said Elisha Ammann, marketing committee chair in a media release. “We want to offer information on how participants can access funding and organizations can use that to grow.”

Local funding group KidSport will be presenting, and JumpStart will have a virtual presentation, both to explain how their programs help kids get involved by providing funding to partially cover registration fees.

MH Sport and Event Council will also have its bid committee present information on their grant available to groups that are looking to host new events and representatives from the City of Medicine Hat will discuss the community vibrancy grant and the new special event hosting process.

“We want to help local clubs elevate the awareness of their programs by helping them host regional, provincial or event national events,” Ammann said. “Whether it’s chess club, archery, cycling, any local organization that has participants would benefit from the information we’re sharing at this meeting.”
