Parts of SW Saskatchewan receiving grants to decommission local landfills

Locations in southwest Saskatchewan will receive about $750,000 in federal and provincial grants to decommission local landfills, it was announced Thursday.

Burstall, Eatonia and Richmound are listed among 28 recipients of grants through the green-resilience stream of the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Fund.

The RM of Enterprise will receive $222,700 in grants from Ottawa and the province, Burstall $260,600 and Eatonia $275,600. Grants require local government to contribute amounts ranging from $80,000 to $100,000 to complete the projects.

In total, Ottawa’s outlay is $25.4 million, matched by $19.2 million in provincial funds.
