Stolen Jeep crashes through garage, driver gets away from city police, K9s

A stolen Jeep smashed into a front garage in Crescent Heights on Wednesday morning before the driver eluded police with tracking dogs in the search.

Medicine Hat police say the crash occurred at 5:54 a.m. when a Jeep Grand Cherokee, later found to have been stolen in Brooks, hit the door and sidewall of an attached garage on the 500 block of Sixth Street NE. No one in the home was injured, but the value of the damage was not yet known.

Police searched the area with K9 units looking for the unknown driver, but came up empty handed.

The investigation is ongoing.
