Hundreds show up to celebrate REDI’s 70th anniversary

A family reunion of sorts drew upwards of 400 people to Pioneer Village on Wednesday afternoon for a barbecue to celebrate the 70th anniversary of REDI Enterprises.

The agency works to provide skills training and job placement to Hatters with developmental disabilities and often provides a social community for the families of its clients, said executive director Craig Woods.

“In many cases we at REDI have become a sort of extended family for the people we work with,” said Woods, who notes this week’s gathering is one of several events this year to celebrate the founding in the early 1950s.

REDI entered seven floats in the Medicine Hat Stampede Parade, and hired a summer student to detail the history of the organization. That research will be presented at REDI’s annual general meeting in September.
