A Medicine Hat man has been charged after police allege he pointed a loaded hand gun at a car near a playground in southwest Medicine Hat.

A release from the Medicine Hat Police Service states the 27-year-old and another man were questioned after a report that one had pulled a pistol from his waistband and pointed it at a vehicle that was passing the parking lot of the Ross Glen water park at 1:30 a.m. on Saturday Aug. 13.

Police found a loaded 9mm Glock pistol and an additional magazine and took Jonah Perrin, 27, into custody.

He was charged with carrying a concealed weapon, possessing a firearm in an unauthorized place, possessing a weapon dangerous to the public, possessing a loaded firearm, and careless use of a firearm.

The second male was not charged. Perrin was released on conditions ahead of a scheduled court appearance on Sept. 8.

Police are looking for additional witnesses and the occupants of the passing vehicle.
