Western Spirit Days are on this weekend in Irvine

By Samantha Johnson, Local Journalism Initiative Reporter on August 11, 2022.

Irvine will come alive this weekend for the first annual Western Spirit Days, which start on Friday and run through Sunday.

Marina Cole spearheaded the idea and was joined by other community members to create a community-wide carving event.

Cole, A Cut Above’s Ryan Villiers, and Fernie’s Michael Penny will be carving throughout the weekend. It will be the first time Cole has done a carving event in her hometown.

The event kicks off on Friday from 1-8 p.m. with carving and an artisan market. The Irvine Hotel will be hosting a steak night starting at 4:30 p.m. and there will be live music from Jack Humeny.

A pancake breakfast will be held on Saturday and Sunday from 8-10 a.m. Food trucks will be on-site throughout the day. The event will also feature a farmers market, community garage sale, show and shine, barnyard movie night, a ranch rodeo and much more. Special guest Mantracker will also be on site throughout the weekend.

There will be a free shuttle service to and from Medicine Hat, which will be picking up at Northlands and 13th Avenue Co-op.

See the Facebook pages for Western Spirit Days or Chainsaw Spirit for a schedule of the shuttle service and weekend events.
