Picture Butte man arrested after car chase

A man from Picture Butte is under arrest after leading police on a chase from Raymond to Cardston to the City of Lethbridge on Monday.

Local RCMP responded after a man was reported breaking in to a residence north of Raymond that afternoon, then fled in a vehicle taken from the acreage.

Cardston RCMP located the vehicle that then headed back to Lethbridge area.

Coaldale mounties, the Lethbridge Police and Alberta police dog unit located the suspect in another private residence to which he had gained access.

Authorities believe the man is also responsible for other reports of stolen vehicles in the area.

Travis Taylor, 31, of Picture Butte, is charged with possessing stolen property valued over $5,000, assault, assault with a weapon, mischief, flight from police, breaking and entering, and resisting arrest.

Taylor also had eight outstanding warrants from police in Raymond and Lethbridge.

He remains is custody following a bail hearing.
