Parade set to take off from Second Street on Thursday at 9 a.m.

Here’s what you need to know about road closures, parking access and transit options, as the annual Stampede Parade returns to Medicine Hat on Thursday.

The parade departs from Second Street SE, near the police station, at 9 a.m., turning onto Altawana Drive, then continuing to First Street SE, Fifth Avenue SE, Second Street SE, South Railway Street, Third Street SE and ending on Fourth Avenue SE, near the library.

In preparation for the event, on-street parking restrictions will begin at 7:30 a.m. for;

– The 800-900 block of 2 Street SE

– The 800 block of 3 Street SE

– Allowance Ave.

– Woodman Ave.

Road closures will begin at 8:30 a.m., including;

– Finlay Bridge

– Maple Avenue Bridge

– Maple Avenue from First to Third Street SE

– First Street SE from Maple Ave. to Fourth Ave. SE

– Second and Third Street SE from South Railway Street to Fourth Ave. SE

– South Railway Street from Second to Fourth Street SE

– Fourth Ave. SE from First to Fourth Street SE

Two Medicine Hat Transit routes will be impacted beginning at 8:50 a.m.;

– Route 20 – Flats, which will temporarily pause, but resume following the parade’s conclusion.

– Route 10 – Northeast Crescent Heights and Route 11, which will continue to run throughout the parade, but will be diverted to the Hockey Hounds Arena on Ninth Street NE, instead of the downtown terminal. A shuttle will be available for those who wish to go downtown. Regular service will resume following the parade’s conclusion.
