https://www.medicinehatnews.com@MedicineHatNews RCMP reported two fatal collisions in southern Alberta on Friday, including one on Highway 3 southwest of Lethbridge and another near Strathmore. RCMP say a 62-year-old man was killed and his passenger seriously injured when a semi-truck rear-ended his pickup and another vehicle at an intersection east of Brocket on the Piikani Nation. The accident occurred at about 1:50 p.m. at Highway 3 and Range Road 280 about three kilometres east of Brocket. Piikani RCMP and firecrews from Pincher Creek responded and found that an SUV that was also involved contained a 34-year-old woman and a two-year-old passenger. They were both taken by ground ambulance to Lethbridge hospital. The passenger in the pickup was airlifted to Calgary and the driver of the transport truck was taken to Fort MacLoed. The investigation required the road be closed until about 8:30 p.m. Near Carseland, southeast of Calgary, Mounties closed Highway 22X between Highways 791 and 797 to investigate after one person died in a collision at about 9 p.m. that night. No further information was released. 6
