From ground cover plants to towering trees, Medicine Hat is home to a wide variety of vegetation.

To help Hatters familiarize themselves with the city’s many plant species, the Medicine Hat Interpretive Program, in partnership with the Society of Grasslands Naturalists, Land Stewardship Centre and the Alberta Invasive Species Council, is offering two guided plant identification and education walks.

The roughly one kilometre walks, held July 30 in Police Point Park, will be led by a park interpreter who will point out different plant species, as well as answer questions about plants.

The first walk runs from 9:30-11 a.m. The second from noon to 1:30 p.m.

Anyone unable to attend the walks, may visit the drop-in information booth located near the park’s Nature Centre, or call 403-529-6225 for more information.
