Operations at the Town of Redcliff have returned to normal five days after wind whipped through the town downing trees and power lines.

“We were very fortunate compared to our neighbours in the city and county,” said town chief administrator Phyllis Forsyth on Friday afternoon.

“Most of our damage was power lines and tree branches. City (power) crews and our residents and (town) workers were incredible.”

Heavy wind damaged homes in Cypress County, southwest of city limits, and knocked out power to 7,500 customers on Monday afternoon.

Major portions of the town were left without power following the 1:30 p.m. storm, and then suffered intermittent outages for the remainder of the day. That led to shutdown of the town’s water and sewer pumping stations.

“We haven’t had any reports of (residential) damage from flooding or backup, which is very good,” said Forsyth.
