Famed country musician and four-time Grammy nominee, Trace Adkins, is returning to Medicine Hat on July 27 for the Medicine Hat Exhibition & Stampede.

Adkins, along with opening act Nate Haller, is the first of this year’s three night show acts; with hometown superstar MacKenzie Porter taking the stage July 28 and the Beach Boys on July 30.

No stranger to the Hat, Adkins says he’s excited to return and once again connect with country music lovers from southeast Alberta.

“It’s been a long time since we have been to Medicine Hat,” Adkins told the News. “(The upcoming show is) a Greatest Hits show. I sprinkle a few new songs throughout the set but it’s mostly all of my radio hits.”

Though the show primarily features well-known tunes, Adkins is confident there will never be a dull moment for audience members.

“We often change our show to keep it fresh for the audience, me, and the band,” said Adkins. “So, (this show) will be a completely different show (than previous Medicine Hat performances). We will perform many of the same songs but with a little, different twist.”

Adkins hopes audience members enjoy dancing and singing along to his music and thanks them for the love they’ve shown him leading up to his Stampede performance, and all previous Medicine Hat performances.

“After nearly 30 years of touring, most of the cities become a blur,” Adkins said. “(But) I do know that any time I have been able to perform in Canada, the folks have treated me well… I look forward to visiting Canada. And I thank the good folks at the Medicine Hat Exhibition & Stampede for inviting me.”

Tickets for Adkins’ show are still available on the Stampede website, as well as night show packages.
