The COVID vaccination clinic at Higdon Hall will be relocated starting this weekend as the facility prepares to host Medicine Hat Stampede activities next week, Alberta Health Services has announced.

The hall on the exhibition grounds has hosted booked and walk-up appointments for those getting vaccinated against the coronavirus since early 2021.

In the meantime, services will be offered on a by-appointment-only basis at the Community Health Centre at 2848 Dunmore Road from July 23 to Aug. 1.

The AHS vaccine clinic will return to Higdon Hall on Aug. 2.

Local COVID rates

A total of 10 new COVID-19 cases were positively diagnosed in the city of Medicine Hat over seven days, according to Wednesday’s weekly update from Alberta Health, down from 19 in the previous reporting period.

That brought the total number of cases recorded in the combined Medicine Hat and Redcliff area to 8,162 with fatalities remaining at 100. Cypress County recorded two new cases in the latest figures, which comprise the week leading up to July 18.

Both areas are considered to have “medium” rate of infections, according to the provincial grading system.
