A heat warning across southeast Alberta is forecast to continue well into next week, despite a mild reprieve on Monday.

Local highs have been steadily above the 30C mark this week while Environment Canada alerted residents of Medicine Hat area, most of southern Alberta and Saskatchewan, to a heat warning. That occurs when prolonged highs are coupled with only moderate overnight lows.

Locally, the thermometer is expected to only reach 25C on Monday, before popping back above 30C on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Weather service recommends delaying outside work if possible until the early morning or late evening, drinking plenty of water and being generally aware of potential health issues.
