A man and woman arrested after Mounties found a stash of stolen property in Suffield have made a first court appearance.

Four people were arrested and charged on June 18 after Redcliff RCMP tracked an all-terrain vehicle stolen from a Redcliff business to the hamlet via its GPS unit.

A search warrant also allegedly revealed a truck taken from Medicine Hat as well as electronics, furniture and a portable heart defibrillator unit which RCMP say are connected to two commercial break-ins in Redcliff on June 14 and 15.

Trevor William Ellison, 32, and April Dawn North, 43, each face two charges of possessing stolen property valued greater than $5,000, and 12 counts of possessing stolen goods valued at less than $5,000.

Two other men charged in the case – Brian Aske, 43, and Donald Nelson, 45 – face similar charges and are scheduled to appear in court on July 28 and 29, respectively.

Added charge

A man facing a second-degree murder charge now faces a separate charge of uttering threats, Brooks Provincial Court heard on Tuesday.

Mat Boangong Choap is charged in the unlawful death of Tamara Soosay last month at an apartment in that city.

The new matter was adjourned to July 20 to bring all Choap’s matters to be dealt with concurrently on the same day.
