The Medicine Hat Police Service is asking for public assistance to locate a missing woman they had contact with in May and could still be in the area.

MHPS announced via a media release Monday afternoon Shanna Copenace, a 32-year-old resident of Swan Lake, Man., was reported missing by her family in late June. Members of the MHPS had brief contact with Copenace in Medicine Hat on May 18 and say there is a chance she may still be in the area.

Police believe she is in the company of a male, Ronald Martin, and the pair are travelling west toward Calgary.

MHPS describes Copenace as, “an Indigenous female, about 5-foot-1 with a slender build. She has long black hair that is often braided and sometimes dyed in various colours. Shanna occasionally wears glasses and has two distinctive tattoos: the name “Ronald” on the right side of her neck as well as a tribal tattoo on her right upper arm.”

Police ask anyone with information that could assist in locating Shanna to contact MHPS at 403-529-8481.
