Hatters charged after string of rural thefts

Two Hatters are charged after Mounties in the region warned business owners about a rash of rural thefts this week.

RCMP detachments in Redcliff and Bow Island stated they had received four reports of vehicle thefts, along with fuel and tools since June 18.

On Thursday, Redcliff RCMP said a 48-year-old man and 28-year-old woman, both unnamed but from Medicine Hat, had been charged after a search warrant was executed on a residence in the County of Forty Mile. Two stolen vehicles and an ATV were recovered, it states.

Both are charged with with possessing stolen property valued over $5,000, stolen property valued under $5,000, misuse of a credit card and failing to comply with a release order.

The male is additionally charged with mischief.
