Military disposes of found ordnance

The Medicine Hat Police say an unexploded military ordnance found in the city on Tuesday has been disposed of.

Medicine Hat officers were called to the area of 30th Street SW on Tuesday afternoon, just south of the airport, after a contractor working in the area unearthed the device. Police said via their social medias they believed it to be inert and harmless but closed the road and evacuated nearby businesses as a precaution.

Members from Canadian Forces Base Suffield were called and police said they were able to dispose of the ordnance without incident.
