Sceptre, Saskatchewan could dissolve

By James Tubb on June 18, 2022.

Medicine Hat News

Residents of Sceptre, Sask. will decide this summer to potentially downgrade the village’s status to become a hamlet of its surrounding rural municipality.

The process, technically called “inclusion” by Saskatchewan’s provincial municipal legislation, would see the previous “urban municipality” combined in to the larger R.M., in this case Clinworth No. 240.

Sceptre, located about 50 kilometres east of Leader, Sask, has a population of 78 residents according to the 2021 Canadian census.

A public meeting will be held June 23, 7 p.m. at the village’s community hall to discuss the proposal.

Written objections should be mailed to the village administrator arriving by July 7. A complete proposal can be viewed at the village office.
