Public volunteers needed for AHS health advisory councils

By Medicine Hat News on May 28, 2022.

Albertans have an opportunity to share their thoughts on regional and provincial health-care operations, by applying to become Alberta Health Services advisory council volunteers.

AHS is accepting applications for both the provincial advisory council and health advisory councils, which monitor and provide feedback to AHS about regional health-care concerns.

Provincial advisory council applicants may reside anywhere in Alberta, but must have lived experience with cancer, addiction and mental health, or seniors and continuing care. Council members serve two terms of three years each, or three terms of two years each.

Health advisory council applicants must represent the council area within which they reside, but do not need lived experience with health issues; they need only be passionate about regional health care. Council members may serve a maximum two terms of three years each.

Medicine Hat is located within the Palliser Triangle Health Advisory Council area, which also includes Redcliff, Oyen, Bassano, Brooks, Irvine and Bow Island.

Members of both provincial and regional councils meet several times per year.

Interested individuals can find advisory council applications on the AHS website.
