Crestwood teacher honoured for academic excellence while at MHC

An MHC alumni is belatedly being recognized for excellence in her field of study with the 2021 Lieutenant Governor’s Social Studies Education Student Award.

First-year teacher Amber Kornelson was cheered on by her students as she accepted the award May 12. Kornelson, now a Grade 3-4 social studies teacher at Crestwood School, won the award while still a student at MHC.

“It’s a huge honour to be presented with this award,” Kornelson said. “To be able to share this moment with my students is very special. It is also a great opportunity for them to see what they can achieve if they work hard.”
