Police say counterfeit $100 bills meant for movie production could be circulating in Medicine Hat, after seizing $2,000 in counterfeit bills during a recent arrest.--PHOTO COURTESY MHPS
The Medicine Hat Police Service is advising business owners and the general public that counterfeit C$100 bills could potentially be circulating within the city.
Following a recent arrest, a suspect was found in his possession to have $2,000 in counterfeit “movie” currency. An investigation is ongoing but it is not known yet where in the city the suspect may have passed the bills. At first glance, the bills will look like Canadian currency but further review clearly shows on each side that they are not legal tender and are meant for motion picture use only.
Police ask the public to be extra diligent in verifying $100 bills they receive. Anyone with information or who suspects they have received or seen the counterfeit bills is asked to contact the MHPS at 403-529-8481.
MHPS seek help with drug houses
Various residents in the city have received a letter recently asking for public assistance in locating drug houses and snuffing out “community harm.”
In the letter, Const. Chan Lee states that if you received one, MHPS is conducting a “Community Policing” initiative in their neighbourhood.
Police are asking these residents for anonymous information regarding suspicious activity in their area.
