City will continue its broad-leaf weed control

By Medicine Hat News on May 21, 2022.

The city announced Friday it will be continuing the fall broad-leaf weed control program first introduced last year.

“Initial results from this control technique late last year, prove to be promising,” parks manager Dave Genio said. “It’s our hope by doing a fall control, we are able to reduce the requirement for additional control methods in the future.”

The fall control program is part of the city’s annual weed control program. The annual program will be carried out in conjunction with turf fertilization and over-seeding programs, which aim to strengthen existing turf and provide competition for weeds.

Control efforts are set to begin this summer and will continue into the fall. Medicine Hat residents may contact the city with suggestions of areas in need of control.
