UFA will expand east with locations in southeast Saskatchewan, the Alberta-based co-operative fuel and farm retailer announced Thursday.

New fuel locations in Weyburn and Yorkton will give the retailer 112 locations, but are part of a larger “multi-year” strategy to add locations in agriculture or oil and gas centres.

“The expansion of our petroleum network is part of a concerted strategy to grow from being an Alberta-focussed fuel and agribusiness co-operative to a Western-Canadian service leader,” said Scott Bolton, president of UFA.

The company, formerly known at the United Farmers of Alberta, currently has two locations outside the province, in Swift Current and Kindersley.

This winter, Cypress County planning commission has heard the business is in discussions toward planning a new cardlock near the intersection of the Trans-Canada Highway and Twp. Rd. 120 on the eastern outskirts of Dunmore.
