Thieves used a stolen car to smash through an overhead door and make off with a “significant” number of restricted guns from a shooting range in Dunmore last week.

The Redcliff RCMP states they were contacted just after 7 a.m. on May 5 to a report of damage at the building, and believe a white 2008 Pontiac model G6 was used to gain entrance. It has since been recovered, but police are asking anyone who saw the vehicle in the area near the time of the robbery to contact them.

Tips can be made directly by contacting the Redcliff RCMP detachment by phone at 403-548-2288 or via CrimeStoppers by calling 1-800-222-8477.

Fraud charge

Mounties in Redcliff have charged a former resident with defrauding her former employer of more than $100,000, officials announced on Monday.

Christie Ann Chabot, 42, is charged with one count each of fraud over $5,000 and theft over $5,000 in connection to a case file opened in June 2021. Charges were laid in April 2020, and RCMP says she has now presented herself to address the charges.

Chabot lives in Nunavut now. She is next due in Medicine Hat Provincial Court on May 24.
