Maple Creek residents once again have power following a storm which brought heavy snow and high winds Tuesday. Deputy Mayor Len Barkman confirmed to the News on Friday afternoon that power was restored to both the north and south sides of town several hours earlier than the expected time of 10 p.m. However, while lights are back on in town, some residents in the surrounding area are still without power. SaskPower released a statement estimating power would be restored to Golden Prairie and Piapot areas by 8 p.m. Friday; Fort Walsh, Nekaneet and the Cypress Hills by 10 a.m. Saturday; and Hatton and Eagle Creek by 5 p.m. Sunday, however Barkman has heard reports that full power restoration may not be complete until Monday. 5
