Redcliff resident wins $100K on Lotto Max Extra

A resident of Redcliff got quite the surprise this past Saturday when he discovered he had won $100,000 from his Lotto Max Extra numbers drawn on Jan. 7.

“I woke up and thought to myself, ‘I should check my tickets,'” Ariel de la Cruz said in a statement. “I had no idea I was holding onto a winning ticket.”

Cruz used the Lotto Spot app to check his tickets, but couldn’t believe the winning amount shown on screen.

“I checked my ticket 15 times,” said Cruz. “I wasn’t sure if my phone was broken or reading the ticket wrong.”

After confirming at a local store, Cruz acknowledged he really had won.

Cruz, who purchased the ticket at Redcliff Food Fair on Jan. 6, plans to use his winnings for renovations. He plans to invest the amount remaining.
