https://www.medicinehatnews.com@MedicineHatNews Following spring melt and with a load of dry grass covering the region, Cypress County instituted a fire restriction effective Monday morning. It bars open fires outside of certified structures, including fireworks, and cancels all fire permits issued by the county. Fire bans were in place for most of southeast Alberta and southwest Saskatchewan throughout hot, dry summer and fall of 2021. The City of Medicine Hat lifted its fire ban in parks and other areas in mid-December, while other municipalities lowered restrictions in the fall. There are currently no restrictions in southwest Saskatchewan or Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park. 7
