https://www.medicinehatnews.com@MedicineHatNews New cases of coronavirus in southwest Saskatchewan are decreasing, though at a slower rate that in late February, according to week-old figures published by the Saskatchewan Health Authority. That province’s weekly report on pandemic cases published Thursday covers the period from Feb. 27 to March 5. It states that 33 new positive diagnoses were reported in the combined region of Swift Current and Maple Creek over that week. That is down from 45 the week before and an average of 85 per week in the month prior. In the same time frames, 1,013 new cases across the province in the period were down from 1,101 and 2,600, respectively. The report also makes special note that a new case related to the Delta variant has not been detected in tests performed for the previous three weeks. There were no new deaths in the southwest zone during the week and 13 COVID-related deaths across the province, including one person aged 20 to 39, one aged 40 to 59 and 11 older than 80. The total number of deaths is now 1,151, of which about two-thirds were people older than 70. 8
