Mounties have named the man who they believe was badly injured in a highway crash before a passersby was assaulted and had his truck stolen last week.

Brooks RCMP announced they have a warrant to arrest Travis Seitz, 31, whose last address is Cypress County in relation to a report of a stolen vehicle near Brooks on March 2.

At that time, police say, a man stopped to check on the condition of passengers in another truck that had gone off Highway 1A at a high rate of speed. He says he was assaulted and had his GMC Sierra taken by a man who appeared badly injured.

One woman, Crystal Bigstone, 29, of Brooks, was arrested shortly thereafter. She appeared in Medicine Hat Provincial Court on Monday morning to answer to charges of assault and theft over $5,000.

Seitz is still at large, and is described as standing 5-foot-8, weighing 180 pounds with dark brown hair and light complexion. He faces charges of robbery, theft over $5,000, driving while prohibited and failing to comply with a probation order.

The stolen truck has since been recovered.

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Seitz should contact the Brooks RCMP detachment at 403-794-4400 or CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
