https://www.medicinehatnews.com@MedicineHatNews The YMCA of Medicine Hat handed out nearly 12,500 high-quality masks and 8,500 COVID rapid tests in 90 minutes on Thursday. That accounted for the entire supply of rapid antigen tests and N-95 masks provided by the Canadian Red Cross after just one day of distribution from the South Ridge YMCA branch. The local organization had planned daily dispersal times over the next week. “We loved to see such a strong community response to this initiative,” said Sharon Hayward, the CEO of the YMCA, in a statement. “It is clear there is a need for these items in our community and the YMCA of Medicine Hat is pleased to have been able to help meet it. ” Test kits are made available at AHS community health centres in the region, including the Dunmore Road location in Medicine Hat, Bow Island, Taber, Brooks and Oyen. Some pharmacies have also now been forwarded a supply of test kits, each containing five tests. According to the AHS website 23 participating pharmacies are located in Medicine Hat or Redcliff. 9
