‘Tis the season
Contract crews are now removing festive lighting displays from street light standards along a number of major routes in Medicine Hat, and the city’s real Christmas tree recycling program is coming to an end.
The city’s municipal works department issued a release on Monday warning motorists to be aware that crews would be blocking some lanes while taking down the Christmas decorations.
Areas affected are the downtown, First Street, Maple Avenue, Carry Drive, Dunmore Road, 13th Avenue, Eight Street NE, Division Avenue (near 20th St. NE), Kingsway Avenue, S. Railway Street and Trans-Canada Way.
The city’s solid waste department is also advising residents it will stop offering drop-off disposal of Christmas trees at recycling depots on Friday, Jan. 28. The trees that have been collected over the past month will be shredded and composted.
