Active COVID cases in southwest Saskatchewan are poised to reach an all-time high after raising 500 per cent over the last 10 days.

Positively diagnosed cases totalled 266 on Thursday for the area next to southeast Alberta, according to the Saskatchewan Health Authority, including Maple Creek (52) and Swift Current (212).

That falls just shy of the all-time high figure for active cases in the area of 282 set on Oct. 2, 2021. The region had just nine cases on Dec. 27.

Hospitalizations remained at just two however, while the average number of new cases each day sits at 33.
