kking@medicinehatnews.com Numerous charges have been laid against two men following a Jan. 1 traffic stop during which a loaded 9 mm handgun, a collapsible baton, bear spray, a stolen credit card and a variety of government documents not belonging to either the driver or the passenger, were discovered in the vehicle. The traffic stop took place in the Flats when a MHPS officer encountered Steven Hart, 38, of Calgary, driving while prohibited. He was arrested and a search of the vehicle was conducted, during which the aforementioned items were revealed. Hart and his passenger Keagan Jackson, 33, of North Battleford, Sask. have both been charged with multiple firearms offences, illegal weapons offences, possession of a stolen credit card, illegal possession of identification documents and breaching of court-imposed conditions. Hart faces an additional charge of driving while prohibited. Hart is in custody and will appear in court today. Jackson was eligible for bail. His court date is set for Jan. 13. 6
