https://www.medicinehatnews.com@MedicineHatNews If you ring in the New Year with the arrival of a new baby, give us a ring once you’re up for it. Alberta Health Services has announced it will not provide any help to the media across the province this weekend regarding the New Year’s babies for 2022. Therefore, the Medicine Hat News is asking the lucky new parent(s) from Saturday to get in touch at their convenience on Sunday or early Monday. This specific AHS practice was also in place in early 2021, though the happy parents in Medicine Hat contacted the News of their own volition to share their joy with the community. The News believes this is a tradition worth carrying on. We assume that nursing staff will confirm the status of New Year’s Baby with the specific family. If this is you, congratulations! Please contact our reporter by calling 403-528-5664 or by email at cgallant@medicinehatnews.com. This can be accomplished in an unobtrusive way, with a brief phone interview and submitted photo that considers both health and safety protocols and the obvious time constraints on the family. As usual, a gift basket provided by the News includes a $100 scholarship, baby items and gift certificates provided by generous local merchants, as well as a free special announcement ad. 12
