New charges were laid against Gregory Zachery Burge, 38, on Tuesday in Medicine Hat Provincial Court. He faces four counts of possession of stolen property valued above $5,000, drunk driving, dangerous driving and flight from police. He also faces several charges of failing to comply with court conditions and one count of trespassing. The man’s lawyer, Marc Crarer, waived reading of the charges and agreed to an in-custody adjournment until Jan. 6. Crarer stated he believed previous bail had been revoked. Brooks RCMP detachment told reporters in that city last April that Burge was charged after he, as the passenger of a car pulled over by authorities, overtook the driver then dragged him some distance while fleeing from police. Authorities disengaged from the chase for safety reasons, though Burge was eventually arrested in Edmonton. 8
