Cypress County has joined the Community Foundation of South Eastern Alberta’s Rural Community Fund network as of Thursday.

“We are delighted to partner with the Cypress County,” Niki Gray, acting executive director of CFSEA, said in a Wednesday release. “Our goal is to increase philanthropy in all our communities by growing local community funds, which will provide lasting support for community needs … and provide additional opportunities to their local organizations.”

Fund allocation will be determined by a local advisory committee comprising of county residents.

Organizations in Cypress County wishing to receive funds must still apply through CFSEA directly, however the advisory committee will review each application and its recommendation will be considered by the CFSEA Grant Committee.

“There are lots of great projects and ideas in our county that just need an extra lift,” Cypress County council said in the release. “(The Cypress County Community Fund) is a perfect resource to help make things happen.”

Cypress County’s fund is the newest of four which represent and serve the southeastern region of the province.

“With the creation of the Cypress County Community Fund, CFSEA now has full representation for all of southeastern Alberta,” the release said.

Questions about the fund can be directed to CFSEA at 403-527-9038 or online.
