MHPS Major Crimes continues to investigate parking-lot car explosion

A man has died as a result of injuries sustained in a vehicle fire in a Strachan Road parking lot Wednesday.

Medicine Hat Police Service confirmed the death in a Thursday release.

Emergency crews responded to the incident in the Walmart parking lot at around 2:20 p.m. Wednesday and arrived to a fully involved fire in a car.

“Members of the Major Crimes Section continue to investigate the occurrence but have determined it to be not criminal in nature,” reads the release. “Out of respect for the family and friends of the deceased, no further information will be released.”
