Medicine Hat’s Police Service reported several motor vehicle collisions resulting from the city’s first notable snowfall, however none resulted in major injuries.

“We had 16 collisions reported through our collision reporting centre and we’ve had about 11 where officers attended,” Sgt. Gerald Sadlemyer of MHPS traffic unit told the News. “Now, there might be an overlap on a couple of those because sometimes the officers show up and then just send them off to the collision reporting centre.”

MHPS is reminding drivers to be considerate of weather conditions and drive with caution.

“The posted speed limits are in ideal conditions, so (in poor driving conditions) if it’s 50 km, drive 40 km; if it’s 30 km, drive 20 km. Just give yourself that extra time and room,” Sadlemyer said. “Just be aware. Be aware and watch the weather reports.”
