Local couple off to Alberta senior games

Two local card sharps have booked their tickets to a provincial championship next spring.

Regional euchre champions Marie and Ivan Marthaller will represent southern Alberta at the Alberta 55-plus winter games set to take place next April in Edmonton.

They they qualified by winning the zone tournament that was held in Claresholm on Nov. 8.

The couple say they’re excited to go, and invite “any and all” players to join in the Veiner Centre euchre club, where they are members and play Monday and Thursday afternoons.

Another local team, Lynn Carter and Leslie Tomczik, as well qualified for the provincial games by winning silver at the zone competition.

Carter said its likely the Hat will be represented at the games in several events, such at pickleball, billiards, bridge and darts.
